Charles Sheffield, certainly one of the greatest hard sci-fi author’s of all time, created the Heritage Universe back in the late 1980s. In this realm, the Builders, an advanced race with almost god-like tech, disappeared several million years ago, leaving behind more than a thousand artifacts. These ranged in size from the rather small and comprehensible, to the vast and mysterious such as the Torvil Anfract, a region of space spanning several light years, riddled with hundreds of space-time anomalies. In one of their larger creations, the Dobelle System, the planetary doublet of Quake and Opal exists, separated by a mere 12,000 kilometers. Apparently, a StarCraft Terran Battlecruiser along with its Wraith Fighter escorts happened to have inexplicably wandered into this system. As per usual, all models are either Bryce5 or Wings3d originals. Thanks for lookin’!
