Description
the story behind this image was i was driving and had to stop at this red light. I saw this young people and thought this looks strange. It was twilight and behind them is the tree but also a fire station and across the street is a real good place to eat seafood. I figure this is where they was going or had gone to eat and was ready to go to the prom. Anyway the man in black looking at you yell at me as I trying to photograph them. He was yelling I was not allow to take they photo. He started toward me then I saw the light turn green so I took off with one shot of them. I been liking this photo so I painted it now. I took the photo around 2005 or so.

That was a close call ! but you managed to get away...
I truly love the characters, the way you immortalized them here - they are coming alive - each of them have and show an expressive feature Jocko - well captured on canvas !
Terrific painting and composition in this concept, Jock. You do these quite well. And the stupid guy yelling at you for taking their picture was full of crap. Unless stated on a sign, you can take pictures of anything you like.
Marvelous creation/composition my friend !!!

Excellent interpretation ! ! ! Very nicely done ! ! !
Cool painting Jock!
I'm with Rod, you are allowed to take photos in public in almost all circumstances, unless it interferes with the law (or you're shooting into a home, etc). You have a way with the brush, you put on paint like it's got 2000 watts of light in it. And the colors jump off the page. The man is in stark black---fitting for his sneer---but the others are either whites, or that deep red, or pink, etc. And a big sensual, flowing tree back there, with deep oranges in the ground and up the tree. You do that deep orange so well---it's like a Southwest US orange, it's alive. The simple foreground and background lets us focus on the people, and that gorgeous tree. A timeless moment, and it's a beautiful painting.
