Description

You can skip my thoughts and just look at the poster I created. When I was a kid, it seemed like there were always Bruce Lee movies being shown on Saturday afternoons on TV. Of course, most of them didn't really star Bruce Lee but instead featured a lookalike doing what appeared to be similar-looking kung fu (to the untrained eye). As I got older and more savvy, I understood how the real Bruce Lee was an innovator and that his death left a hole in the martial arts movie genre comparable to what happened in rock music when the Beatles broke up and Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Janis Jopin all died within a few months of each other. Imitators had to fill the void because those artists were missed so much. Besides, there was money to be made. As I got older I sought out more information on Bruce Lee and discovered he was an author and a teacher as well as an action hero. In fact, his movies are almost incidental to the true impact of his career. And it was through his writings that I had my first real exposure to Eastern philosophy, which has helped nourish and challenge me to this day. He became even more of a hero to me. You should also seek out his writings, which are much easier to access today. This GIMP'ed image is my attempt to mimic the look of an aged poster of the icon. The pose is slightly modified from one of the stock poses with the Lee 6 starter pack, and is certainly an iconic pose. However, as daggerwilldo pointed out to me, it is not ideal from a defensive perspective and I wanted to share that with you. Enjoy!

First time I saw him on the "Green Hornet" TV show in 1966-67 I got a man-crush on him (LOL). He definitely help mold me into the person I would become in my adult life. He is a great introduction into Eastern Philosophy for the uninitiated. Nice tribute and wonderful supporting text.
