Description
A friend said to me tonight, “Your stories never seem to end.” — which is true, but then that’s kind of how life is, right? It’s not a 22-minute sit-com but a constantly evolving chain of inter-related events: things we do one year may not impact us again for three or four down the road, but… as we all know… they do.
So yes, there’s more to Raymond-François’ story, and we will tell it someday (assuming the strip lasts long enough for him to grow up a bit more). Still, I wanted to get Elliot and Gilles past this first hurdle that all parents of adopted kids have to get over. It’s never easy. I know that. I hope it didnt come across here as too facile or contrived: this is a serious moment, and it requires serious, sober consideration. Hopefully I’ve done right by this kid.
OK, more arrivals as the family congregates to see Elliot’s long-awaited film. And, of course, we’ll occasionally interrupt this with little one-offs and brief comments about recent events as they warrant.
*And*… ask me about the Doc and Raider Super-Secret Group at Facebook! Decoder ring! Handshake! It’s got everything!…

I think you did brilliant! Though, you might have forgot the one natural question... 'Do I have any brothers or sisters.' That question for me was answered with a photo, and a choice whether I wanted to meet him, and then a surprise meeting at his adopted parents house. Things were different back then, today they like to hide your past from you. Supposedly, we knew each other at the orphanage, and I have vague memories that may or may not be real. Hard to remember something that happened when you were 4. The mind closes off painful memories to protect you. Anyway, now, at 53, we've enjoyed a long sibling relationship, though odd, being we grew up in different houses, and even a few good knock down brotherly fights. Never found out about our birth parents though. Anyway, your dialog was natural and flowed well.
And... ice cream solves all problems... that is so so very true.
I think you handled the situation brilliantly. They gave him enough information to set him at ease and let him know he was and is loved - and stoked the sugar high so the problems will evaporate in a feeding frenzy.
