Description
John Harris was commissioned to do a painting for the cover of the science fiction novel Spindrift. This is a "re-imagination" of that work. Some of the aspects of the original painting are very difficult to establish the perspective and geometric representation. The level of detail is also challenging to establish. Harris' paintings are well designed to allow the viewer to fill in the details on their own (which provide an amazing depth to his work). In this case, the CG work is much more detailed and so it becomes difficult what to include, fill in, and imagine to make the render work.
This is good enough for now and so I will leave it.
I hope you enjoy it as a tribute to Harris' true skill.
Everything 100% modeled and rendered in Carrara by me.

Beautifully fantastic Sci-Fi scene here. Bravo!
Thanks! It was harder to make than I thought it would be and it's a little simple but fun.
Aha, I thought this looked familiar. It has a kind of John Harris look to it.
Glad you liked the render! It took a long time to make but it came out nicely.
John Harris is my go-to for massive scenes.
