Well, Ute, I'll start out by saying what I've said every time I've commented in your exceptional gallery: When I return for 1 or 2 weeks, I don't have time to comment on everything that I've missed, so I have to choose "representative" images instead. I don't like doing that, believe me; but there's just no other way for me. It's only because I leave very long comments (some of my comments can take 10 minutes or more). So I can't comment on everything, for which I truly apologize. But I see everything you post, every one, and I'll comment on as many as I can tonight. I hope I'll be back soon to comment on more.
This "Dream of Freedom" is a very haunting image. Very touching too. And complex. You have futuristic creatures---the silver humans (or humanoids) in the front of your image, and a semi-futuristic woman in the background---half human, half futuristic robot. And then you have two real humans, who seem to be orphans, or perhaps orphans of war or catastrophe. You gave them mournful, yearning faces, looking to the sky beyond the frame, seeking redemption or freedom. It feels like a post-war image, the kind of image that would fit any country that's been through war. (It's timeless.) And you have two doves---birds of peace---flying in front of them, with a window---perhaps symbolizing an opening to a new world...or perhaps a window to the world that these two women have just left. It's powerful.
The whole image is in a haunting silvery patina---a patina you use from time to time---which gives the image the feeling of a sterling vision (like sterling silver), but doused in melancholy, yearning and loss. It has dunes, like a forlorn desert; and the two front humanoids are balancing the earth on their faces: It's complex, the image feels yearning and dark, emotionally; yet it has hope. I say that because I'm not sure if the metallic beings in front are all bad---I can't tell. Maybe they yearn for freedom too. It's a complex and beautifully conceived piece, with a woman holding up the window: She seems to be a guardian angel of some sort. Perhaps she will help bring these two women (or young girls) to freedom...Beautifully done, Ute.
