Description
Another portion of story of the White Demon...She is turning out to have some depth.
This render is the result of me experimenting with a geometry shell in order to place an emissive surface (the glowing tattoo). I used the City Bus Stop prop 3 times to create my city street. The backdrop is an actual sunset that I shot when visiting Athens last year. I beefed up the contrast to make it a bit more dramatic.
The story is that our demon girl has completed a rather nasty mission and is receiving "Inspiration" or the Awen symbol. The tattoo is being branded on her by God or the Universe as you will. It is a cherished reward, but also excruciatingly painful.
I'm thinking I might yet get a graphic novel out of this girl. ;)
Using the geo shell for the tattoo was a lot of experimentation. No matter how I tried to mask the shell, I kept getting a dark area on the thigh. The thing that worked to a debatable degree was adding the mask as a displacement map to cause the shell to be at a lower depth than the tattoo. So, the shadow is effectively eliminated. However, this leaves a slightly ragged edge around the tattoo. For my purpose, this isn't all bad. I'd actually like to add a bit more glow effect to the tattoo and maybe a reddening of the surrounding skin...and possibly, some wisps of smoke. I'm looking for good opinions on how to do this without resorting to postwork in Photoshop. I don't have a problem with postwork. I just want to learn as many tricks as possible for the best renders within Studio.
Thanks for looking!
