I like chess and this your image is very well done. I like your unusual style.

Chess probably originated in India. And it was probably a War game. Even today, it still has war-like pieces (pezzo, pedina...) In your art, you've put dark against light (the two women aren't really black and white: They're actually deep brown and a gray-beige). And you placed a white cat by the dark woman; and a black cat by the light woman. (Brilliant!) And the light woman moves dark chess-pieces; while the dark woman moves bright chess pieces. You've created many 'opposites' here, to convey your theme...Also the two women are covered in very different textures. I love how you do that. Their 'skins' are very visceral, tactile...

But they sit in front of brilliant, opulent, silver-chrome chess pieces. Huge chess pieces. And they're stunning---some silver, some black. ANd they shine brilliantly. And we can see---in the reflections on the chess pieces---that the two women are sitting on a huge chess board. (They're chess pieces too!) And that chess board stretches in front of them; and the rest of the landscape is a desert. There's a wall behind them, but a vast desert in front of them, with a very intense sun. This too is brilliant: You've placed these two battling women in a primal, endless space. (Which communicates the 'endlessness' of their struggle.)

Like Sisyphus, these two women seem locked there. To me, they're playing chess forever. Have you ever seen the film "The Exterminating Angel"? (El ángel exterminador, by Luis Bunuel?) If you haven't seen it, several people go to a party. Suddenly, they realize: They can't leave the party. The doors are open, the windows are open: Nothing is "keeping" them in that party. But they can't leave. So, they panic. They start to break the wall, to break a pipe, so they can drink water. They think they will die in this room. The door is just a few footsteps away, but they can't leave...

In the meantime, animals walk into the room. Sheep. I think a bear walks in. But the people can't leave. Yet nothing---nothing---is 'keeping' them in that room: They just cannot leave...The film is a surrealist masterpiece.

I get that feeling from your image: These two women can walk away, but they can't leave the chess match. They're "called" to that chess match. They must finish it. And so they stay there, with a wall on one side and a desert on the other side...and they play, and play, and play.

As always, you convey difficult, disturbing situations with brilliant technique. The big chess pieces are gorgeous, even though they're terrifying. I love the visual reflections in the pawns and knights, etc. This is brilliantly done. And you placed a 2 limes on the ground...a sign of life! They're small but beautiful. And they offer some hope. I love how the game is played by women and the most important pieces right behind them..The horse..the king and the Bishop..all male symbols...lovely work on the reflections too...your rendering machine must be smoking sometimes:)
