And what happens? A maple leaf designed by committee gets rejected in a referendum. Still, it can be sold as quite literally anything that's limited only by the imagination.

Oh, NO! Another bunch of stupid politicos who have nothing better to do than mess with their country's flag. Stupids! Can't learn from Britain - Brexit. When the people have had enough. Keep up the good work. :-)
