I tried to make this make this a bit like the old railway posters from my childhood and before.

I'm not really familiar with the railway posters you mentioned, but if they were painted, I think you succeeded, as this has a very painterly look to it. It has an almost abstract quality to it that reminds me of the style that Georgia O'Keeffe used in her paintings of the American southwest...
