Description
The end of an era.
We have had milk delivered to this doorstep continuously since September 1949, when my family moved in, and I was five years old.
I cancelled on Boxing Day 2015, when the firm was taken over by a company who is not paying farmers a fair price.
I was paying well over the odds for it and now am buying it at Waitrose, who promise to do the right thing by their suppliers. The amount I'm saving will almost pay for my share of the beachhut each year !
The downside is that I may now have to buy a granny shopping trolley, as 4 litres is quite a heavy addition to my shop, and I rarely take the car.

Wait, you still have glass milk bottles? They disappeared over here decades ago. I hope you told the company why you were cancelling their service. Perhaps if they receive enough feedback they might rethink their actions.
Your post work makes me want to retitle this "Milk Bottles In Space!"
We cancelled our milkman a couple of years ago. I now buy organic milk.
Interesting capture Andrea. I remember we had milk delivered in bottles and later in cartons in the early '50s, just as I remember that some people displayed red flags (communist flags) on 1 May, the Labor Day in Germany. We moved in 1954 some distance (about 1 mile) but stayed within the same community and somehow we no longer had milk delivered to the door. I don't know if the delivery service was no longer available or my mother went to the store. P.S. I am glad you like the postings of my driving vacation of last summer. I revisited all the places I had been before, but the main reason was to put on some miles on my car, because I had plans of trading it in, and I figured a few extra miles would not make much different in the price I would get for a trade-in.
An excellent POV for this capture and it is a shame that it is the end of an era for you. It takes a while to get used to a new way of doing things. We haven't had glass bottles here for many years now worse luck, it is all plastic and no home delivery these days either.

I haven't seen glass bottles in decades! Wonderful shot...and I had one of those granny trollies about the same time I last saw glass bottles! I wouldn't fuss about it, anything that helps you carry things is fair game!
I still carry two heavy bags of groceries, and I should get a trolly or something, because my arms have threatened to sue. I totally understand. The shot is postworked to a wild vibrating peak, with the mat (on which the bottles sit) looking like a huge nuts and bolts template just waiting for screws. What a fascinating treatment and shot, it's alive with energies and colonies of light and hue. And your treatment of the bottles (again) brings Warhol's coke bottles to mind, though this is wholly your own style. Another Andrea transformation that I love. Your on-top pov adds to the drama too. Love the treatment.
