Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

How adorable!
I like how the 2nd dog is looking at Ralph as if to say: "Why, Ralph? Why?"

I comment, then do a chore, then comment, then answer the phone---it's rarely straight commenting. Well, while looking at this beauty, a neighbor and his 2 dogs walked in front of my door (in an apt building), and the dogs barked wildly. And my neighbor said: "If you don't stop, I won't let you sleep in my blanket tonight!" (Like they understood that! He tells me, "you do your best, and hope they understand half of it...") Well, if they had this blanket, they'd never bark another day in their lives! I love this shot, not only for ralph wrapped up in that throw, but because Fritz looks like another throw, and he's eyeing Ralph as if to say, "you couldn't spare a little for me???" Wonderful shot, and Ralph's position and expression is terrific. Love it!

The lion in winter. What an outstanding portrait of the two brothers. I agree with Mark. Fritz seems to be thinking "What about me?" And Ralphie's expression is classic. "See? You see what I have to put up with here?"
