I found this link for my mysterious garden fungus and I used a 105 Sigma macro lens to get better detail. I found it to still be difficult to focus on the fungus. see next post

Very interesting trio of images, Richard. They look like ice crystals. I enjoyed reading the info in the link. Nicely done.
Beautiful crystal -like structure in this,,,,fantastic capture
I'd heard of this fungus, but never seen it. Yes, we can see that it's one tough photographic subject, and I don't know why. Maybe its density, as you suggest; maybe too much white light. But your capture here makes it look like a gigantic crystalline thing, advancing on that branch. And that little string at bottom is such a nice addition to the shot. This is almost surreal. I love the shot; and maybe there are just things in nature that won't be photographed, but the image is striking regardless.
great capture - thanks for the name - I went backwards in viewing your photos
Super Capture!!

Cool shot....
Looks like snow crystals, great capture!
nice
This is a wonderful macro photo, Richard! This fungus is so delicate and beautiful. It reminds me a lot of the frost crystals that form on your window on a really cold day.
