Description
I thought I'd take a break from ornate architecture & post some other types of shots of Prague today. This musician was playing his saxophone on the Charles Bridge. It was a challenge to get an intimate shot there as there were mobs of people all over the bridge (they're all behind me & to my left & right)...

Great capture
the constrictions of all those people provided you with the inspiration to capture a man while getting a big swath of city behind him. So there are no human crowds in the shot, but there are major architectural ones. The lines are contrapuntal: The lower line of buildings in back make one, the upper buildings (w/ church) make another, the wall behind the musician and the cobbled sidewalk make another, and so on. The three front verticals---the sax player, the lantern and the young man on the far left---balance out all this horizontality. And the clarity and light is bright and inviting. When you have these facades as your backdrop, you do wonderful things with them. That top layer---a huge church included---makes a terrific "top" to the piece. This is a terrific piece of design shooting, and a fine capture of a musician as well. Really thoughtful work, Claude. Multi layered and rich.

I can hear the lovely tones of his baritone sax. Even if he didn't play well, in my mind I hear good music. :P A compelling shot!
