I see that Barb really loves this...she's a truly kind person and has a wonderful, delicate, loving gallery, with really beautiful art (in several disciplines too). It's so nice that you two have been friends a long time, and honor each other here. I just saw the dedi she did for you, you two must have a wonderful connection. Well, Hendesse's background makes a terrific backdrop to this sweet but also menacing moment, where Haensel and Gretel are lost (verirrten sich). They look scared, and they're staring at a woman on the other side who looks pretty sinister. (I mean, maybe she's not, maybe she's scared too...but if I were a child, I'd be scared if I saw here there...) Fine job "lunging" the woman forward, and also rendering her white straggly hair. As always, you have fine details---Gretel's doll, their basket, the squirrel trying to get Haensel's attention, even the sleeves of Haensel. (I love how they're half transparent.) In the center of this image, you have a beautiful opening with beautiful deer. It looks so peaceful...the children are scared, but beauty and comfort are only a few steps away. And there's an owl up there too, symbol of wisdom...A finely done fairy tale, scary but lush, and it has a positive feeling to it at the core. Lovingly done as always, Ute. All your images are.
