I began commenting this week, and I'll be commenting through the next 2. I'll get to all of you, I promise!
I posted a smaller version of this earlier...but this is more suited for Halloween.
(It's from a blizzard: All natural forms on a verrrrry drab day.)

Wow, this looks like something from another planet; it must be from a past winter, right? Incredibly fascinating shapes in the fingers of ice on everything...I would so love to be able to see things like this. Must begin talking to the parents about the possibility of moving somewhere a bit colder!

Oh-em-gee, what Cape Canaveral will look like in a thousand years. That looks so much like what was once a launch pad for Saturn rockets. It looks so apocalyptic. This must have been taken in the winter, somewhere around your beloved Lake Michigan. Stellar color hues, composition and detail in this amazing photograph, Mark. Oh, and glad you're back with us after a lengthy absence.
How extraordinary these figures are formed, as in an ice cave, deep underground. It is full of life, and it would be cool if you could freeze it permanently, as refined as the sculpture was made by nature. In contrast to this image, I wish you a very warm welcome back, Mark, and I hope everything is okay with you. Thank you again for everything, my friend.

This is really wild...love those windblown icicles at the top
Placing your subject at the center of the shot, cropping so close to the top, says, "Look at this! Seriously ... LOOK at this!!" The classic composition of placing the subject off to one side wouldn't have the same impact. This has the impact of a wrecking ball. Wham! Fabulous!
