..... In South Dakota!
This was a rest stop / scenic area as we crossed into the Missouri River valley near Chamberlain, SD. Saw this hottie walking her...ummmm...... dog(?). She looks familiar for some reason..... :-D
Just having a bit of fun with Poser and one of my photos on the laptop.
Well, today sucked - weather-wise.... Rain, fog, cold, all day long. We took the opportunity to visit an archeological dig and museum not far from our hotel. I'll post a photo or two. They have some of the best-preserved fossil remains of wooly mammoths in the world. I'm sure Art (adorety) would have found this as fascinating as I did. We also visited Wind Cave National Park.
While there, I spoke with a park ranger - his name was Rick..... Yes, really..... He was our cave tour guide, and a most fun and entertaining fellow. Anyway, I asked him about any locations where it would be OK to fly my drones. Not many.... SD is not a very drone-friendly state. He said there might be some places out away from the borders of Black Hills National Forest, but much of the area around here is either a state park, or falls under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. He did say that I was doing the right thing by inquiring rather than just going out willy-nilly like some folks do. Anyway, I don't know if I'll get ant drone footage or not, but they're with us in case we do find a suitable location.
Hopefully Wednesday will be a better day - it was clearing off as the sun set today.

Nice to se you're a "law(n) abiding" citizen - ask first, then fly. However, I can't understand why a national PARK should be a "no fly" zone. What can they be hiding? Or is it the risk of fire hazard, or drone loss in trees, etc. where the wrecks can't be recovered? At any rate, best to avoid being shot down with an arrow (or bullet). As for your photo - love it! I've seen 1 or 2 others like it (one with a purple dragon peeing on the sign!). So, despite the rain, you got something fun done! Much appreciated! Hope you have good weather for the rest of your vacation! Keep up the good work! :-) (Still no 6 on the rating scale, or is it "ratting" scale?)

That's some pet! That's cool you got to see some mammoth fossils. I read about finds that are mixed remains with Columbian Mammoths and Wooly mammoths in South Dakota. There is a mammoth subspecies that may, in fact, be a hybrid offspring from Columbian and Wooly mammoths interbreeding. Anyway, hope your trip is not completely rained out.
