Today, for us in Holland, it was memorial-day at the cemetery in Margraten.
We remembered the Allies, all those boys who liberated us from the Germans
in WWll. We are still very gratefull to the brave American soldiers which came
to us in 1945. Thanks to these boys, we are living here now in freedom.

Oh, wow! Another cool thing-a-majig vehicle. Great paint job on it! Looks like it's been through a real battle. Is it a Dutch vehicle (I don't recognize it - not seen it before)? The nation was liberated largely by the First Canadian Army, which included in addition to Canadian forces the British I Corps, and the 1st Polish Armoured Division, as well as, at various times, American, Belgian, Dutch and Czechoslovak troops. Parts of the country, in particular the south-east, were liberated by the British Second Army, which included American and Polish airborne forces, (see Operation Market Garden) and French airbornes (see Operation Amherst). On 5 May 1945, the Canadian General Charles Foulkes and the German Commander-in-Chief Johannes Blaskowitz reached an agreement on the capitulation of German forces in the Netherlands in Hotel de Wereld in Wageningen. One day later, the capitulation document was signed in the auditorium of Wageningen University, located next door. what would we do with the good old US of A

My Father serve'd with the 8th British Army he still tells me about the things he saw and the way the German as an nation behave'd towards the people of the lands they took over....
