Description
Another variety of sunflower, captured 8/10/15 @ 8:46 am, somewhere within the vast confines of the neighborhood.
A real beauty, with a basically black flower head, and mostly red petals.
The patio temperature has been hanging around the 110 Fahrenheit/43.3 Celsius degree mark for most of the early afternoon today. My air conditioning, plus drinking a lot of liquids, are the only things keeping me alive and rational. It's supposed to cool off on Monday.

OH GOSH! they are wonderful. The colors are simply gorgeous. Need I say, I love them?
Good Luck with cooler weather Monday. I shouldnt complain, when I am almost melting in 30c. How glad I am, that is isnt.
Oh dear, those are dangerous temps, and the AC/elec bill painful!! Lovely shot of the sunflowers, tho. Take care, Harry.
WOW!!! Love it!!!
I don't know if this will be a 2 hour session---it may only be an hour, but it's been too many days since I commented, so I'll do as many as I can before I have to leave. I love the stark detail on these two shots, and the very intense presence as well. The 2d shot seems slightly different (I'm assuming it's a different shot), but the two have much in common, nevertheless. And your sense of electricity is palpable and very exciting. The yellows on the edges of the petals make them look like they're painted---I love the effect. And the pollen is so visible in both, and ultra visible in the 2d. In the first shot, we see it on the leaves as well as petals, which is wonderful. In the second, we see it close up. A scintillating striking capture of this ubiquitous flower, in deep oranges and browns to contrast with the more common yellows we often see on sunflowers. And a fine angle with really striking detail. Fine flower work, Harry. First rate.
