Description
A black bear, captured back on 3/13/10, at the beautiful Los Angeles/Griffith Park Zoo in Los Angeles, California.
The American black bear (Ursus americanus) is a medium-sized bear native to North America. It is the continent's smallest and most widely distributed bear species. Black bears are omnivores with their diets varying greatly depending on season and location. They typically live in largely forested areas, but do leave forests in search of food. Sometimes they become attracted to human communities because of the immediate availability of food. The American black bear is the world's most common bear species.

I toned down the background due to its brightness and color. Took lots of pics of this big guy, who seemed to be somewhat despondent and lethargic, possibly out of boredom.
Arrivederci.

That's a big fellow! Nice capture of the captive ursine, Harry; looks like he has his eye on you! Springtime here brings them out in the foothills where there are growing communities of humans to be startled and scared. My supervisor at the lab in Issaquah took a shot of one that showed up on the other side of her office window this spring!
WOW!!! He's a Big Guy!! Those Claws would Hurt!!!
Such a big and healthy looking fellow. Maybe he wonders if you have some berries for him :-)
Great shot of this handsome and impressive fellow .... albeit somewhat disconcerting considering the fact that this morning's news talked about a man who was mauled by a bear outside his home. Wouldn't want to tackle this guy!
beautiful capture
wonderful shot
Interesting effects you used on this. Makes the bear pop out against the background, yet creates a sort of one dimensional look to him as well. Almost a 3D look, yet cardboard cut-out like at the same time. Very cool.
