Description
Captured 5/10/15 @ 11:06 am, at the beautiful Fullerton Arboretum, adjacent to the beautiful California State University Fullerton campus, in beautiful Fullerton, California.
Lots of bamboo at the Arboretum, most of it not like this, especially the ones within the interior of the thickets. Some people don't have no respect for nature. This is how they show their gratitude by getting in the Arboretum free.
A ZOOM is essential in viewing the damage.

Yes, it is a shame. Some people have little respect for anything, but if it was their property that was being vandalized they'd be furious. One would expect that the thought of doing this would be out of the question; but some people have no sense; and if you asked them if they had any, they'd be checking their pockets for change. Great capture though; and I sure a larger view of the area must be magnificent.
Sad that people feel the need to deface everything. Wonderful capture, though!!!
so sad people do this. I spay painted on a wall one time when i was a teen but I feel bad about it so i never did that again
It never would have occurred to me to do that on a narrow plant stem of all places. (?) 0.o well seen and captured Harry.
And it will stay like this for about 25 years. I have learned, that is how old a bamboo can live before it dies. I dont actually know, if it is true. :-P Bamboo graffiti. :-/
Btw Harry, I should've been faving these, but all our fav-texts have been removed---incl for our Favorite Artists---with no sign of returning them! And, from what I see, there's no notification of who fav'd us! Imagine that: They not only stole our texts, but they don't let us know who's faving us. It's gone by the wayside...So just know you'd get a lot of fav's from me, and your whole GALLERY's a fav. Please keep that in mind. (Can you imagine the hubris of taking away the texts from our favs and favorite artists??? I hope they fix this.) Oh---also: The "View Count" is meaningless too: If an artist goes to your image, and refreshes the page over and over? Each refresh will count as a new view! So if we get 40 views, who knows how many of them were repetitions? What were the admins THINKING???????????????? Anyway, to the image...
The defamation of these beautiful plants is terrible, and it makes a sad sight. But I'm going to look at it as pure art: As a capture, it's terrific. You got real clarity on the carvings, and also on the grain and grit of each stem. The music/rhythm of the stems against each other is wonderful. The clarity of the foreground is terrific against the more faded hues of the background. And those carvings make for a wonderful set of hieroglyphics---in bright peach tones against the dark greens and other hues of the shafts. It's a terrible thing to do to these beauteous plants; but boy, as a shot, it just glistens. Really good crop too: You brought us right into the middle of it all. Despite the defacing of a beautiful plant, this is my kind of capture.
