Description
Captured back on 7/11/12, early in the am, again somewhere around the neighborhood.
The top is the original looking into a relatively bright overcast sky. And, I'm not exactly sure about the bottom variation; I probably increased and varied the brightness and contrast until it evolved into what you see above. Like a painting, it is. In any case, it was postworked, which is one of my favorite things to do. Mea culpa.
Have a nice day.

Both are equally interesting. The worked one is impressive, almost like a painting of the original. Wonderful photo and postwork.
I agree, both are beautiful in different ways! Lovely work, Harry!
splendid reality, even with variation ! excellent !!!
Great great work !
Such a beautiful sunflower.. I luv sunflowers and the second of them, I fint most beautiful :)
I know I said I'd be back sooner, but I got delayed this week, and I wanted to finish some artists I hadn't visited in a while. Usually I start where I left off, but I wanted to comment on a pic or two, after that (just to show you I've seen them all). I loved the top photo, here, because it's so brooding and dark; yet it has real detail. You intensified or whited-out the sky, and it brings out the brooding nature of the top flower even more. A most unusual flower shot from you, because its dark and brooding. The petals almost look like they're under water...Then the lower "interpretation"---yes it's like a painting, and also like a print. You did a splendid job on the details, the light and the textures. And---keeping with the deep white sky---you let the light bleed through the plant, to make the leaves luminous, and the petals like flames. I love that piece. This could pass for a photo that was postworked, as opposed to a clearly manipulated image, because it's so sunflower-like. (Some of the photographic greats did all kinds of things to their shots via the darkroom, so I really see this as another flower shot, rather than as a variation, per se. It's splendid. And I love the pairing---you couldn't have gotten two more different moods from one flower. Love the upload. And that white background brings a whole new feel to your flower imagery...
