Description
One of the icons of Southern California, captured while looking up, hoping not to fall backward, back on 4/3/08, somewhere around the city.
A stalwart of nature you wouldn't want to climb to the near top of and then slide down.
Don't bother to zoom.
Have a nice day.

It's daunting to watch the folks who trim these as they scale their way up to slice off the dead branches. Not a job I'd want! This is a stellar point of view, looking up into the universe; the sunlight on one side is really pretty! Good capture, Harry!
Perfect Camera angle and Shot!!! Imagine California without any Palm Trees....Hmmm?......Desert? Thank the 1930's for introducing these icons!!!
Harry, I like the point of view you went with for this one.
Cool POV, Harry.
YIKES! I get dizzy :-) What a fantastic palm tree. I love palm trees. I wish we had such in Denmark, but they would die very fast in the winter. Excellent capture. Glad you didnt tilt backward. :-)
Funny POV. Bravo.
cool pov
splendid angle of shooting ! great tree and oustanding capture ! i like it !!!
the same kind of angle as the one I sought on a recent high-rise upload: Straight up to the sun. Very dramatic; and your yellow sunlight on the tree---on our right---is wonderful. It's like someone basted it with butter! Never seen a palm tree look this majestic. And the two tones of your sky---lots of white on the right, lots of blue on the left---makes for a wonderful background. (It reminds me of two tone popsicles, when I was a kid!) Wonderful dramatic piece, Harry, and the leaves atop make a "halo" for the thing... (And speaking of sky shots, thank you for that shot of a rainbow from a plane---I've never seen a rainbow from a plane. It looked like a complete circle, rather than a "bow"; a fascinating beautiful sight. And I just saw that futuristic violin too---I would say, if they can make that sound as resonant as the wooden variety, it could catch on over time. CLassical musicians are the hardest to turn around, of course---they'll hold onto a design forever, before letting it go. But if a new instrument has as beautiful a sound (or better), it can catch on. Violins get their tone from the wood and the famed finish, and that's not easy to emulate. It looked beautiful though---I loved the design. Thanks again for such fascinating shots from all over the world, Harry.)
