Description

Now, we go back to fur. This very fuzzy and beautiful guy is George. The picture is poor, from a browed cell phone, but you can see how beautiful he is. Like people, animals can have issues. George has a problem similar to Downs syndrome. He will not be released. As a rehaber, I was taught that we must put down "defictive" animals. We are not to rehab them.. I have decided that until they let me put down the mean people, I will just keep doing what I do. Love them all and give them the best I have to give them. All he wants is someone to hug him and let him hug you. He is almost a third larger than the others the same age. He is also a gentle giant. He loves applesauce and is licking it off my fingers here. I am going to just love him as long as I have him. These animals tend to have short lives. I think he looks more like a stuffed toy than a live animal. I am blessed to have this little bit of joy and sunshine in my life.

I thought the out of focus was George not keeping still considering the apple sauce. The cute factor is going off the chart again. ALL being with Downs syndrome (an extra chromosome 22) live short lives. I remember the woman whose body I had for dissection when I was a student of anatomy died of Downs, only 36 years old. NOTHING inside her looked odd or unusual. The dysfunction was at the cell and biochemical level. AND, people and animals who have Downs are the sweetest imaginable, maybe a wee bit stubborn (but not like "normal" people). All I can say is you are very fortunate to have George. But don't be too sorrowful when he passes on as it's part of his disease. Keep up the wonderful work. Glad to see you've had a few moments off to post some photos. :-) Summer's now come. Last 3 days - hot and humid like mad. Thunderstorms last night. Sitting now in my birthday suite perspiring like mad, it's like being in a shower except it's coming from inside. :(
