Another brilliant piece, Giuliano. You captured that very dichotomy---the mix of heaven and hell, of deep love and deep conflict, the sense of "combat" between lovers, and the sense of total unity between lovers. I love that you made the dancers gold; and you surrounded them with smoke and mist---as if they were dancing over a boiling cauldron (hell). Your textures on the man and woman are pure sculpture: They're very visceral, very sculptural. And the ground is a mix of earth and colored smoke, as if hell were just beneath their feet. You made background mountains---I've never seen mountains like these: They wonderfully "folded," as if you made them out of sheets of leather or fabric. You often place patterns on your surfaces; and these mountains have patterns like complex wood carvings. In the background, the mountains undulate like fires (the fires of passion?), and the whole piece is awash in smoke. Finally, from the standpoint of dance: You have the couple in a true dancer's embrace, with the womans' right leg sweeping out to balance the arch of her back, and to balance the weight of the man's embrace. This is beautifully done, and a real evocation of one of the most combative and passionate dances. More wonderful work from you, Giuliano. (Two films come to mind with this: Bertolucci's "Last Tango in Paris," and Carlos Saura's "Tango". Both explore the deep dynamic of the dance...)
