Description
Photographers awaiting the appearance of a hidden heron, captured 5/10/15 @ 10:10 am, at the beautiful Fullerton Arboretum, adjacent to the beautiful California State University Fullerton campus, in beautiful Fullerton, California.
With all that serious camera equipment in the area, the dude on the bottom had to be kidding. Even my 18-135mm lens was larger than his. Maybe he couldn't afford any better. And what is that his camera is mounted on....a bipod?
Pozegnanie.

rolleiflex@home :)
I guess he just wanted to get his best shot; could be worse, he could have had his iphone on there! Sort of looks like a protractor in this shot, but I can see a third leg on the tripod hiding behind one of the other ones. Great comparison capture, Harry!
We have those people too in France :) :)
Nice shots my friend !!!
A camera with a small lens can still get great shots, if the user is skilled.
I commented on this a little, in a previous upload...I love the comparisons here, and the guy with the small camera makes a terrific shot. The first shot is imposing because of the size of that lens (and the camouflage, of course). And I like how there's an abandoned camera off to the right. Your strong light exposes how dry things are there (in the dry-looking soil, etc). And I like the crumply look of the 2 photographers, standing there fairly relaxed, as they stalk the wild creature...But the second shot shows a guy who's obviously comfortable in a verrrrry baggy outfit (those shorts are a riot---they're almost full pants!), and concentrated so heavily on his tiny camera. As Denise said, what if that were an iPhone...(well I've yet to see an iPhone with an expandable lens...) And, with Denise, yes, there's a third leg on the tripod---but your angle makes it almost invisible, to where it looks like a bipod. Wonderful contrast shots, I agree; and you have the 'heavy' photographers in the background of number 2, waiting. I think the foreground guy is so wound up in his camera, he's gonna miss it when Godzilla comes lumbering out of the woods. Love the street-capture feel of shot 2: He's a portrait all by himself. Love it.
I think both these guys are missing the point of bird watching... You are not meant to be seen.... Mmmmm? I suspect the Heron in question is thinking 'What are those big idiots doing, I'm not going out there...' lol Still, bigger is better...or so I've heard lol Great shots Rob
