Description
it was up high and I knocked it off.
a small wasp with no stinger injects the tree with a substance that causes it to morph the bulb to encase the egg of the wasp.
if too many are on a tree it can kill the tree

Very cool photo and interesting information
Wasps have many ways of doing this, some even use other insects as the host apparently! Great shot.
Not to mention that you don't want the wasps either.
Very very beautiful shot !!
Interesting Richard and sounds like you did the tree a big favour.
It still made for a great capture at least. Beautiful image and info.
