The last of this series, for now. I have dozens of other photos I took at Pere Lachaise, some of which I may post in the future, but I have other photos from France I'd like to share...

I've loved this series, and I'm sorry I can't comment on every one today. But I've loved it...In a way, this is a perfect place to end it, for now, because it communicates sorrow and the intimacy of grief. I imagine Pere Lachaise is not an easy place to shoot, because of all the angles and cloistered spaces, and the many obstacles to walking a 'straight line'. But you got the cloistered feel, the cramping of all these stones and monuments, throughout the series. And with this shot, the stark green against that yellowed stone, and against the bright sky with the dappled leaves, makes for a strong statement of sorrow and loss. The weeping figure lines up with the edge of the mausoleum behind it (I assume that's a mausoleum) and gives a spine to the piece. I really like the angles too, a very active shot. I'd probably be balancing myself all over the place, if I were shooting here, twisting to get shots. This is very well composed, and the green of that cross---with what appears to be a big snake slithering across it---is striking against the more normal-hued stone. Very sensitive work, Claude; so is the whole series.
Wow what a way to end this fantastic series of Tombstones and interesting information. This is a gorgeous statue with remarkable markings and beautiful colors.
