About as gothic as you can get with tree roots.

Incredible tree and very great shot !
Awesome tree roots! Very cool and nicely captured, Harry.
Gothic is exactly the perfect term for these knobby wonders...they'd be fun to get at sunset, or in the moonlight, or passing headlights even. Superb shots, Harry!
The roots look really awesome. Two fantastic shots!
splendid capture ! I see wonderful roots of ficus !!!
whoa, heavy duty lighting here! Zoom is a must---the light makes them alive, and it makes them jump out of their shadows, to us. Harsh powerful light, with deep shadows. And, in zoom, you caught the convolutions and hidden caverns quite well. One can see the semi-dry grass (because of your drought), and it's a bit sad to see that. But this tree is biblical in feel, with knots and bulbs and overlapping limbs (roots) and terrific shadows. Fine work, and another powerful tree-root capture from you. (We see very little of this in Chicago. I assume because the cold doesn't engender such copious root systems...)
