Description
Captured 4/7/15 @ 8:52 am, as part of the freeway widening project, about a mile from home.
In the top foto, the wheel loader is shown taking a big bite out of a relatively small heap of unadulterated dirt, and then, in the bottom shot, depicting it having climbed up the side of a humongous mountain of dirt and detritus to deliver it. I assume that they know what they're doing.
The shots taken through a chain link fence.
Ciao.

Fantasytic engin and very great capture my friend !
well, you may be shocked to see me commenting on your very latest image (I don't want you to pass out!), but I'm trying to do a couple per gallery today, and I decided to do your very latest image rather than my usual romping through past-images to try to catch up. Both of these are in-our-face strong images, but that last image is just terrific to me. Of the first, strong lines and shapes, which it benefits from, because of its many strong lines and shapes, and all the stuff going on in it. It feels like the whole image leads to that wall of dirt, which the Caterpillar is attacking. Quite a wall! (In this shot, the wall looks like it'll take the guy 2 weeks to get rid of it.) Strong lines, with the top of the truck lined up with the background lines. In the second, the dark gray of that mound, with the dust and scattered debris, and the almost misted-out sky (your work I assume, which is just right for the shot!) make a real urban-wasteland feel. Like those mounds must go on forever. Love the contrasts in the debris and dark grays, and fine smoke to set it off. And you say this is the stuff that's being 'delivered'? Makes me wanna say, "why THANK YOU SO MUCH! JUST WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED!" (Can't beat a mound of dirt for Easter...) Love that shot. Amazing what your city serves up---this could be in the Saudi desert for all I know. Love what you do with this ongoing road widening. It feels so in a world of its own, in your hands...
Wow Harry, these are some very cool shots indeed.
Great shots! Maybe they're building a dirt pyramid to worship the god of filth.
very impressive machine, wonderful captures !!!
It's always something of a challenge to come after Mark in the commenting lineup. He says everything that's possible to say, and leaves nothing to add except "what he said". Still you got some really excellent working shots here, Harry; the dust cloud in the one shot really brings home the fact that they are working, really working the earth out there. Seems like they probably had to import that pile of dirt to begin with, and now they're moving it somewhere else, because that's what we do here...we EMPLOY folks. Doesn't matter if what we do is stupid, at least we get paid for working. Your photographic skills are one thing we can count on!
Great capturing of the daily project. I used to work at a business than handled parts for these types of machines, and this looks to be a big one, just not as big as some I had seen. The weight of these monsters in amazing; you're surprised they don't all sink into the dirt.
Heavy duty hardware at work, cool shots both mate. Well taken. Rob
