Description
Today I have been to Crocodile World, my son Christopher had a keeper experience. We had a super day, he was weighing, measuring, feeding etc.
This is Albert, would you believe he was rescued from someones garage, unbelievable. They are bought as only about a foot long & they don't even consider that the crocodile will grow!!!!
I have to blame the seller, pet shop for selling these animals in the first place.
I was in a well known pet shop chain the other day, a young man was at the counter buying some critter? The assistant asked him if he had owned one of whatever was in the box, the reply was NO. With that the young man payed for his purchase & took it home. I just hope the critter is well cared for.
Thanks for all the lovely comments & favs, so, so appreciated. xxxx

Workers in the New York sewage system encountered a full grown crocodile back in the late 1950s, so this isn't anything new. But it's horrible for the animals. In several countries this sort of thing is forbidden, particularly with so called exotic or wild animals. When I had my 3 rats the pet shop owner had my address and telephone and expected me to call and let the owner know how my rats were living (food, water, light/dark, location of cage, healthy/ill, etc.). I also called to notify when each died. THAT was responsibility on the part of the pet shop, and I appreciated it. As for Kitty, my cat, she's registered with the kennel club and my colleague who gave me Kitty and I talk almost every day about her. The animal hospital in town has her registered, too, and notifies me when it's time for her yearly check up and vaccination. Nice photo of this fellow. But I wouldn't want to be on the same side of the cage bars as he is! They can be dreadfully fast, and don't let go once they bite. I wonder if he knows his name and responds when called. I know bearded dragons can recognize their names and come when called. :-)
Beautiful animal! Beautiful and ferocious at the same time!
We're so sorry, Uncle Albert We're so sorry if we caused you any pain. Great capture
Barbara, this is a marvelous photo and so glad they were able to rescue him.
First, I hate it that Albert was found in the trash, that is just so cruel. But... I would love to have had a video of the persons face when they heard a sound in the trash, went to investigate (probably thinking it was a puppy or kitty) and then found an alligator. That would have been a startling discovery.
He is lucky to have been rescued.
Great capture!
I'd never buy any animal from a pet shop. I've heard that a very high proportion of puppies they sell are from evil puppy farms :( Looks like you had a nice day out !
I can imagine his appetite grows in time too... Nice shot! Aloha
Fantastic photo and so happy that he was rescued. I be Christopher was in his element helping out. hugs and love xxxx
Albert looks very healthy and well feed. A great head on photo Barbara!
I'm so glad Albert was rescued and hope he has a better life, now. Great shot.
