I love your style, such personality. She; noncommittal, somewhat aloof, he; standing behind with a wane smile. and the one who looks unhappy. I'm guessing a family portrait.

The son moans constantly about his live, still living with his parents at 46! The parents think he has no drive or ambition! They say they have lots of fun as a family to others, but don't!! Great group of personalities captured here.

I'm back (whoop-de-freakin'-do!!! as an old girlfriend used to say). I'm back in March now, because I want to comment on some shots I didn't comment on when they went up. Your drawings are always a good place to start. The left-most woman has the most subtle/complex expression of the bunch. She looks wan and distracted, dreaming of someplace else. Strong use of face-division, the way you put one half in shadow and the other in (relative) light. Her jewelry has more light than she does--good contrast. I've always taken to the highly etched lines of your figure drawing...maybe 'etched' isn't the right word. Incised? I remember you telling us that you started out as a sculptor---which of course we've seen ample evidence of in your galleries. (One of your pieces graces my desk every day, with that ancient mythic humorous smile, I see it many times a day and I've yet to be un-dazzled by it) (I'll drop you a note about that soon, btw---it WILL be fixed, I guarantee). Anyway, your drawings show very sculptural features. Like they were carved from stone. Even the pointed shoulders are sculptural. I found that such strong angles ruined my figure drawings, but they are wholly at one with yours. The middle guy looks happy, though he's a bit pensive as well. Love the adam's apple, it has those angled lines you do so well on the human body. The third dude looks positively irked, and the glasses are a great addition. As is his straight clumped black hair. I also like the contrasts in the clothes-colors. And you seem to have made washes out of these pencils or fineliners. Whatever you did, you got wash-like qualities along with the many strokes. The colors of the drawing make an overall ill-at-ease feeling, to fit the ill-ease of 2 of the three subjects. And it's nice that the smiling guy is in the center. Fine drawing, fine shading, with your usual very expressive characterizations, and a real cast of characters. Zoomed, it's that much fuller. A terrific drawing, Andrea. And btw, if I haven't said it elsewhere, your flickr collection is incredible to see all in one place. They're a genuine Collection. I just adore seeing them all on two web pages. (That's how they show on my Mac.) Incredible.
