Description
Scotland, Isle of Skye
Before we left the island we noticed a ring around the sun although it was not raining.
So I think it was a halo also known as a nimbus, icebow or gloriole which is an optical phenomenon produced by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere, resulting in a wide variety of colored or white rings, arcs and spots in the sky.
Thanks a lot for all welcome comments! ;o)

WOW! Wonderful landscape! Superbe sky colors. Congratulations Sossy. Hugs!
Great shot.
These phenomena are also called 'sun dogs' here in the states. We see them usually in late fall and early spring. Very good capture of a ring which is somewhat rare.
Beautiful scene....
A super capture Rita and we always say that there is rain about when we see this.
This is truly a beautiful, one in a million capture! Not often one comes by something like this..... makes me think of a 'ring of fire'. The silhouettes of all those trees around are most inspirational as well!
THIS CAUSE BY VOLCANIC DUST IN ATMOSPHERE :) BEAUTIFUL
Erklären könnte ich dieses Phänomen auch nicht, aber es sieht faszinierend aus. Super Foto, zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort.
Agree 100% with Hendesse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
