My own UFO model, modeled and rendered in Carrara 8.5 Pro, composited into a photo I took at the local mega-movie-plex. :)

Nice to see some Carrara Renders, how did you do you lighting match? Does Carrara have a function that analyzes the lighting or you just go off of how the shadow looks in the photo? Nice job. -Dave

Since I took the picture with this in mind,I made some notes on where the sun was at the time and deliberately chose a day when the sky was clear blue. When I rendered in Carrara I used the realistic sky with no clouds and just put the sun about where it was in real life, then rendered with Sky Light and Indirect Light on - pretty simple. :) If I'd been putting my UFO into an picture someone else took I'd have had to make some educated guesses about the lighting, camera height, focal length and so on in order to match it. I did render the shadows, specular and reflections out separately so I could adjust them in post. I ended up having to add a little bit more blue than the render had and lightened up the shadow so you could see the ground more through it.
