Description

It was a lovely morning at the beach for the dog walk yesterday. I couldn't see what I was taking till I got out of the glare, but I think I quite like this picture. It looks like it would have done if I'd taken some sunglasses with me! These boulder groynes are at the Poole end of the beach, whereas in Bournemouth we have wooden ones. One I like better Low Tide

Two excellent shots, I love the prints in the wet sand and the sky reflecting off the fairly still water. Two high quality shots.

Oh, I love both of these; I like the first one because of the more overt drama, especially in terms of the clouds and the interesting jiggles and squiggles that are going on. The quality of light is absolutely superb: it makes me think of perfect winter light, which differs from summer light in that summer light is always a wee bit...well...I guess you can say it's not quite as crystalline and faceted as winter light (if that makes sense.) Contrasts are sharper, shadows are deeper and there's an astringent quality to open air. Or maybe that's just my imagination running off with the idea that it's chilly. The second photograph is equally brilliant and I love the shifted emotional focus. Things are smoother, slower paced, contemplative, and that's perfect. The footprints are a wonderful implication of humanity; and often an implication works a lot better than the thing itself. These are two perfect photos.

Brilliant image! Outstanding definition in the clouds. As for the second image, my first thought was "Friday! There are pirates on the island (don't ask)." Then I saw the title reference. So you know Miles? You do have an eclectic soul. BTW - No 'E' in Davis.

I like the reflective light and the contrast with the cloud shaded areas. Love the foot prints in the sand. Just as an FYI - groynes like this one, build of stone, are called "breakwaters" on this side of the great pond!!!!
