Description
Captured back on 5/3/07, inside the Pavilion of Wings, a temporary adjunct to the beautiful Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles, California.
Most people can step out into their backyard and find butterflies. Since I live in a mostly insect-free area (ants only and an occasional arachnid), I had to drive 22 miles and then pay parking and admission just to go in and snap photos of these beautiful creatures. Also, due to the popularity of the exhibit, time within the compound was limited to no more than forty-five minutes, so, just like photographing eyeglasses and their shadows, I had to work at a rapid pace.

Really nice shot! I have to get some of those flowers in the yard.
If it's to attract these beauties, good luck with that. There are lots of lantana bushes in my neighborhood and I have yet to see any butterflies in, on, or around them. Then again, I live in an area practically devoid of insects.
That butterfly has some amazing markings! Beautiful capture, Harry!
This is an AWESOME Capture!! Lived my whole life in California and I have never had the pleasure of seeing a butterfly like this one!! All we get in our area are Monarchs.
Great job capturing all of the lovely details in this one, Harry.
