Description
I was watching a bunch of kids jumping off a rock into the Smith River (we pass this spot along one route that goes from where we live to the coast) & decided to try to time my shot to capture the splash at impact. After several tries, I succeeded (I could have used burst mode, of course, but preferred the challenge)...
Please zoom.

lovely scenery; cool splash
Well done! I hope it's really deep, we have had deaths here with this tombstoning activity in too shallow water . That pool is very tempting, I should have to go in for a swim.
Beautiful location.
Very nice and cool scene great timing
Very beautiful place for swimming, the water is so clear! Excellent capture!
I know burst mode is used by the finest action photographers, I know they couldn't get half the shots they get without it; but I still feel, as you do, that taking the shot individually is somehow more "committed"---even though a fine action photographer still uses all his/her intuition to set up those bursts. (Cubist painting, to me, always seemed like many burst shots put into one image, juxtaposed...) The whole scene hits me first: quiet and protective---because of the wall of rock and trees in the back---and lush. And the woman in front looks very happy, making this a peaceful scene. But then we move back and---splash---the splash of someone diving. It's a big moment in miniature, quietly embraced by the whole scene. I really like that you kept everything else 'in'. (As a follower of buddhist thinking, you know the famous Basho 'enlightenment' poem about the frog splashing in water? "Leap, splash---a frog!" Something like that. This reminds me of that---we're immersed in day to day life when, suddenly, splash! Something wakes us up. Newness, the sudden moment...splash!) Very nicely done. And the shallow lights in the water are very restive too...
I'll bet that water is a lot colder than it looks! Excellent capture!
Paradise now ! Lovely place.
Awesome capture!
This is where your new polarizing filter will really help, not with the splash, but by cutting the reflections on the water surface and allowing you to look into the depths. It will deepen the water color while at the same time enhancing clarity. It may also help the splash by slowing down the shutter speed and giving a bit more mistiness to the splash.
It looks like my youth jumping off 50 foot high walls into the old granite quarries of Rockport, Massachusetts!.
