Description

So, I go out for my first shoot of the wood ducks today. I am, like many of us, having vision issues. I really want to get better pictures this year. I was sitting there, in the blind, waiting for the ducks. Without any warning, this LARGE goose drops in front of my lens.......I am using my 400 fixed and the goose is about 15 feet from me. Stupid bird.

Great capture! I know I shouldn't laugh, but the story is wonderful and funny! I can emphasize with you regarding being startled - my first year out hunting and I'm checking out an old drag road, when just about 6 feet in front of my, this Blue Grouse decides to take flight - (they are very noisy when they launch)

Oh, MY! You SCARED me! Naughty, naughty! :) Very good photo, Bev. At such a short distance I can imagine you were surprised! Of course it didn't know the camera was there, but.... This really gave me a giggle. I hope you got some photos of wood ducks (unless the goose scared them away). Looking forward to seeing those photos, too. Looks like good, sunny weather where you're at. Here it's cold, damp, windy, a bit rain, almost no snow. NOT weather for going out to photograph anything. Sigh. So I'm going through old photos to see what I can post. Thanks again for the giggle! :-)

Marvelous surprise capture, of her in her protective mode, good thing you did not get pecked, they can bruise the skin horribly, if they get close enough to do it. I used to have a pair of white geese and loved the goose eggs fried for breakfast, but the female caught my son off guard one day playing in the yard without a shirt one day and after that I gave them to a farmer I knew who had a goose egg farm. I could not take a chance of them hurting my boy any worst, I sure did love their eggs for breakfast, though, lol.
