Description
In April last year I uploaded into my gallery here a hand-drawn black-and-white image titled 'Lord of the Elements', which featured this bearded, bare-chested mage. It was actually the first of several 'sketches' I did in the 1980s featuring this character. The above is but one of the said sketches.
Some friends who saw this pic complained that mages can't and shouldn't be so brawny. Well, maybe his mentor made him haul all the big, heavy spellbooks around their library when he was still a young apprentice. That would probably have beefed him up! ;)
Do you think his neck seems a bit long? (I guess my grasp of the human figure was still not so good at the time I drew this.) Also, what name do you think you'd give him? (I thought of the name RUFUS. Do you think it suits him? :) )

Good draw !!
Rufus is a great name for him! I assume that he may have used his powers to give himself a strong looking physique. No point getting beaten up and then casting a revenge spell afterwards. The superhero look avoids such unpleasantries. No one is going to mess with him and he can then use his magical powers for good works - or just everyday hocus-pocus. Interesting detail.
He's awesome, you did a great job on him! He looks quite well-proportioned, including the neck. And just remember, "Brawn is good. Brawn is good." Keep repeating that until it sticks. ;^)
