Captured 1/24/15, early am, somewhere within walking distance of my hallowed haunt.
Lots of arcane-barked tree trunks in my area.

This is a great tree!! Lots of character!!! Also looks like the Keebler Elves moved out and boarded up the door!
excellent study about textures of the trees !!!
Amazing capture and very great textures!!!
Excellent capture and textures.
Nice work on a very cool capture, Richard.
My first thought was that it was a boarded up window too; how odd and fascinating, the ways of nature! Great find and wonderful shot, Harry!
Looks like it will make a nice future home for some local vermin.
It almost looks like a tree with an attitude. Almost like it's sneering. But it's not---an amazing record of how a tree protects itself from the elements, when it has a rupture. The bark is so sensual, rolling around the opening. And your crop brings us right into the hole, by leaving only a little shot above and below it. (And some city on either side to ground us in the background.) A striking closeup. And such an expressive shape! A very expressive shot.
