Description
Um…have you ever been far from home (well not that far) only to feel the urgent twinge of…um…urinary necessity. Well, that happened a while back. I cannot remember exactly where this photo was taken, aside from the fact that it was the smallest room in the area. I can remember, however, the sheer sense of horror one might feel in so enclosed a skewed rickety, dubiously-lit place. I remember 80s music somewhere in the background, and the scent of…well…I think it was something (hopefully not someone) naturally mummified.
I overcame my fear: I allowed it to wash over me and through me, until only I remained…and I drew my camera, snapped a shot and marveled at the idea that somebody left a half-consumed bottle of Danish beer on the edge of the sink. I’d been advised to let the taps run a bit: “till the water clears.” There was no running water, of any sort when I took this photograph, but there were a few room-induced goose-bumps, and thoughts of where a dusty mummy might be tucked. This is what remains of that intriguing day. It’s a bit—

Interesting photo and commentary. I will say no more, but I have been in worse (overseas, in 3rd world countries)
I gritty and I expect a somewhat unhygienic scene. I've been in too many of these places myself. Usually due to an unplanned pit stop from here to there. I wonder, was there any soap at hand? No? I also wonder what necessitated the crumby wall patching just behind the sink. Why is it that whenever I come across that particular hexagon title pattern on a floor, I always see a badly patched up wall near at hand?
lol...hover and forget the cover ;)
Nightmare!
Yuck!. I am sure it smelled like someone died in there.
I think I may have waited :o))))) x
wow! I'm betting that was built either early 1900's or possibly late 1800's. The crazy thing is that when I was a child my family went to a church that was built right around that same time-period, and that place's main entry had the exact same tile-pattern, right down to the black tiles arranged in that circular/hexagonal/almost-flowerlike pattern! This is stirring all kinds of odd flashbacks for me. Neat photo, and I like the very subtle color.
I've traveled extensively. Once you use almost an public restroom for a particular part of the world, nothing bothers you.
I bet we've all had this experience! Not fun!! There used to be a bar/nightclub/music venue in Everett where the bathrooms were so bad I refused to drink a drop of anything while I was there, just so I could stay long enough to hear the band and get out without needing to pee. Drugs and drunks and puke and stopped up toilets, filthy floors and heaven-only-knows-what on the walls. Yikes! Thanks for the memory, I think! LOL!
Amazing capture my friend. God bless.
It's times like that I wish I were a man, without the physical necessity of actually touching anything other than myself. Wonder when was the last time it was cleaned? If ever? At least you had your camera...
