Description
This is our equivalent of the tiger, the jaguar, the largest cat of these lands.
Not as big as the lion or tiger, but you can bet it's just as fierce. I captured this one (With my Camera of course) ;) at Furesa, a zoo out of San Salvador.
The title has a double meaning,
First, he rose and came to greet me when I approached the cage (do not know why, but I think I was the fattest of all we were there, LOL)
Second. "Jaguar" in Spanish and "How are" in English pronounce almost equal, which has given rise to a silly joke about a jaguar who speaks English and a fox who speaks Spanish. The Jaguar asks the fox "How are you?" and the fox answered "No, I am Zorry"(Zorro= Fox so Zorry= little fox, I told you it was silly)

Fabulous capture my friend - A very beautiful cat I'm looking at this beautiful cat and I can see that s/he would rather be out in the jungle looking for the next meal. unfortunately, we have those who think that that feel that creatures like this are only for shooting and mounting on the wall or worse yet, around a woman's shoulders. I don't even want to tell you what I want to do with people like those....;-}
I apologize about the rant.
Don't worry, Mike, I think and feel exactly the same.
Beautiful creature and great shot!!!!!!!
A very beautiful animal. There is something sad about a caged big cat. They are meant to be free. In 1983, zoologist Alan Rabinowitz ventured into the rain forest of Belize, determined to study the little-known jaguar in its natural habitat and to establish the world's first jaguar preserve. Within two years, he had succeeded. This link will take you to a page were you can hear his talk "Man and Beast". He tells of how talking to animals when he was young helped overcome his stuttering and how, years later, he went to Belize to study Jaguars. Shortly after Belize had established the Jaguar sanctuary he encountered a large male in the jungle. It did not attack but only observed him. It comes at the end of his talk and is very moving. http://themoth.org/posts/storytellers/alan-rabinowitz
Many more people should be like him! Thanks for the link,I understood almost everything and you're right, it's moving!
Funny joke and excellent capture !
Great shot of this beautiful cat.
Fabulous shot !!!
We have a nice Jaguar habitat and breeding program at our zoo. This is of course the closest I get to them! If you haven't seen it Neto, this vid shows just how powerful and deadly they are: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/earthnews/10352674/Swimming-jaguar-filmed-ambushing-caiman-in-dramatic-video.html
I haven“t seen this video before, and is fantastic how he dares to fight the gator almost in his element! Thanks for the link!
