Description
Captured back on 10/2/09, mid day, down south at the beautiful San Diego Botanical Garden in Southern California.
I know these are cones, but can only assume by experience that is a variety of cycad that they are sitting in the center of. There was no identifying marker to state otherwise.
Have a nice day.

I haven't seen a lot of these, but I've never seen one that had three in the middle, only ever one. What a great find, and a superb capture, my friend!

Looks like a pineapple rabbit. Great find & shot. Happy New Year!
Fantastic capture once again !!!
Cool and more than slightly weird looking things to us here in the U.K. Great view mate, well posted Rob
well, claude stamped his impression on me, and now I can't see anything else, lol: A pineapple rabbit. Yes. Big ears. But I do see the amazing plant. This struck me when it went up (esp as we were entering a deep freeze, and plants like this weren't to be found anywhere around here: Rob isn't the only one finding this new and unusual. A beautiful capture, with another centered crop, yet the two sides of the photo are opposites---one in shadow, one in drenching light. This couldn't have lasted very long, you caught a terrific moment here. I assume it's an instinct you'd developed long before, just knowing the moment when it presented itself to you. And the center cone is all in shadow, which allows us to see the many details around each---what---little pod? The area where leaves grow out? (This shows you how little I know about plant life.) It's a big burst, with a big cartoon animal in the center, opening its many arms to us. Amazing light contrasts---your eye was alive that day. Wonderful plant shot, Harry. Harry, this won't be a 2 or 3 hour session---that's coming in the next few days---this is a shorter one, to at least get 'wet' in your gallery again, and show you that I've not missed a shot. (And I want to show my face in a few other galleries tonight.) But I'll do 45 minutes if I can, to 'get started'. This last few weeks has been an amazing time in your gallery, the shots have jumped off the page.
