Description
My gorgeous nephew.
He was just about 3 months old here. In turn for letting me photograph him, I made a nice little photo memory book for my niece and nephew.
I used natural light, through a window and a flash here. I don't like the camera flash so much, but it is what I have for now.
He was all squirmy, lol, so I just took a bunch of shots, trying to compose as I go method :)

Yeah the hard shadow from that pop up flash is right here, but as you say, it's all you have, could have used a reflector I suppose, but wriggly little ones have not the patients to stay still eh? I'd say you got a good shot in spite of the pitfalls Melinda. What a nifty idea to make the photo album, they'll have a good precious memory. Great shot of the little one. Crafty tip. don't rush out to buy a reflector, hit your home depot store for styrofoam ceiling tiles :) they work great.
Or even a piece of white card will do too. Yes, you did well here, poor baby just doesn't like bright light I guess. I'm the same way ;)
Lovable !
sweeeeet
You can crank the ISO up WAY more than 400 on your 70D and not use the flash. Try about 1/500 and f5.0 and raise your ISO until the picture in the display looks bright enough. You'll be amazed by the quality of shot you'll get in natural light! Aside from the techie-blah-blah ... it's a great shot. What a cute pose! :)
Thanks Tara. I keep forgetting I have awesome ISO options on the new camera :)
Superb capture Melinda. God bless.
Squirmy models are the best, actually. I like em. They're such a fun challenge and so the compose-as-you-go routine can be fine tuned and yield some amazing results, like this! I love this shot and as I have so much catching up to do, this is a good place to start. This is great and it's even better as it's in black and white. This is wonderful.
Please, if you insist on taking photos of me, then no more blinding flash shots, especially with my newborn eyes! I see bright spots. Gimme a break, why don't ya! Otherwise, Melinda, nice closeup capture of your nephew.
