Description
We have two Bougainvillea bushes on our property. The thorns are very sharp and are all over the bush. I have to wear leather gloves to trim them.
Wikipedia says - Bougainvillea is a genus of thorny ornamental vines and bushes with flower like spring leaves near its flowers. They are native plants of South America. The vine species grow anywhere from 3 to 40 feet (1 to 12 meters) tall, scrambling over other plants with their spiky thorns. They are shiny green when rainfall occurs. The actual flower of the plant is small, .25 inches (.6 cm) and generally white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six new growth leaves with the bright colors associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. As the colorful leaves turn green - the flowers fall off. Bougainvillea are relatively pest-free plants. This will zoom and the flower on the far right is the sharpest.
