Several police cautiously follow the smoke coming from Archimedes basement entrance and discover Archimedes still unconscious on the floor of his lab. They find a fire extinguisher and put out the smoking computers and server stacks. The lab is a shambles and appears to be a total loss. A short while later, paramedics arrive and determine Archimedes injuries. After making sure it is alright to move him, two of the officers help to carefully hoist the workbench off of him. The medics place him on a stretcher and carry him out to a waiting ambulance where he is rushed to the nearest hospital. His injuries are life threatening and he flat lines twice on the way to the hospital. Once in the ICU, he is quickly stabilized and hooked up to the monitors and given an IV. Since Archimedes lives alone, there was no one at the house to get clearances for treatments that might have to be done. They find his wallet in his pants and get the name of a cousin. Jarrett Treadwell had just started to leave his office when he got the call from the hospital about Archimedes. 'I'll be right there! Is there anything you need me to bring?' he asks. They inform him he just needs to come over and make some decisions for his cousin. When Jarrett gets up the Archimedes room and looks at him, he says to the orderly checking Archimedes, 'Wow, he looks so fragile. Is he going to be alright?' The orderly looks at the computer near Archimedes's bed and the heart monitor and tells Jarrett that it looks pretty good. Archimedes has been stabilized and is still in a coma, but they are optimistic he will come out of it soon. Jarrett goes and talks to one of the police officers and finds out what happened. He is incredulous when he hears the details of the damage. One of the neighbors saw four hooded characters leave Archimedes house and it looked like they were carrying a body. At first that was what the police thought it was till they discovered a robot was missing. 'I sure hope Archimedes comes out of this okay!' says Jarrett. He really doesn't socialize much. He gets so involved with his science projects he loses track of time. I hate to admit it but I haven't seen him in about a year. I couldn't tell you what he was working on. 'Well, I hope you won't mind stopping back and checking up on him till he checks out of the hospital. It really helps with recovery if there is someone to be there for the patient.' says the orderly. 'Oh yeah! Don't worry. Even though Archimedes doesn't have the best social skills, he and I go way back. We grew up together and were best friends till we got out of college.
