Description
You can see here Currumbin Beach on the Gold Coast, as the backdrop for the 'Annual Sculpture Fest' (which has come and gone already) ...
~ This is # 35 'EREBUS' by the artist: Glen Star ~
I will show you a few more of the sculptures over the next few days, but I particularly liked this king-size horse, which was no match for a 'Trojan', (nowhere to hide!) also because it was very late in the afternoon, when I visited the fest for the second time around, it took on a totally different mood, far more dramatic ...
... and speaking of king-size horses, here is what KING RICHARD III, had to say: "a horse! a horse! my kingdom for a horse!"
Just like my late father, I also have a penchant for them, except he used to train soldiers, to become good riders and horseman, when he was in the German Cavalry, but that was a long time ago ...
Cheers Brigitte ;)
PS - this looks even better, when zoomed in - trust me ;))

It looks like he's prancing along the beach. Fantastic capture!
A superb photo, and an excellent piece of work.
What a fantastic sculpture
A very lovely picture BB.
After all that shouting do you suppose Richard was a little hoarse? Terrific image of a very creative sculpture. I like the POV against the sea and sky.
Beautiful capture and photo!
Why the long face!
Fantastic capture!
Yep, definitely no Trojan's hiding in there King Richard, but this horse is almost as big as a kingdom...if you're rather small, that is ! LOL Nicely composed capture and glimpse at this years Swell Festival, looking forward to more. ~Cheers~
Marvelous capture and fantastic sculpture !!!
I'm totally out of my mind at the sight of this magnificent horse. And I just very much love your shot, dear friend. One way or another, the horse seems to be alive, also your focus is ideal to admire (with awe) the size of this fantastic image; this because you show this little person right in the photo. Despite the enormous power which radiates the horse, it seems to be all alone on the beach, and surrounded only by an endless expanse of sand that gives me to think about what the horse might think, haha. Anyway, I like your info about your father, so interesting to imagine, dear Gitti-friend. I hope you can stand the heat there with you. And, oh, did you, for example, invited Angela and Barrack to take a swim in your pool? Then don't forget to present them a real Brigitte cocktail, huh? Cheers in advance.
This horse is a very impressive sculpture, very beautiful in front of the sea! Excellent capture, Brigitte!
Very nice capture. Well done.
Well, leave it to our resident travel-photographer---Mark (wysiwyg, whose gallery is a treasure)---to come up with the only pun possible for Richard III. I intend to do a long session very soon, but for right now, I want to at least comment on one image for today. When I first saw this, I thought you'd drawn or painted the horse into the photograph. Then I read your description---it's a real sculpture! Well your postwork (zoom's a must) brings out the webwork of the beast, and you've captured the light shining through it too. The emptiness of the beach (few people) sets off how stark that horse really is. As an artist, such sights must really hit you. You postworked it for the fantasy it is, and brought out all the light-filled lines. And I like the big warm-gray cloud-line along the skyline. Very sensitive work, and beautiful, Brigitte. (I attended rehearsals for a Royal Shakespeare student production of Richard III, and in the big scene where Richard cries out "A horse! a horse...", one of the actors ran out with a stuffed horse, threw it at Richard, and screamed, "here's your damned horse! Now SHUT THE F___ UP!" The whole cast fall on the floor laughing. It was worth it being alive just to see that...)
and for the want of a nail, the kingdom was lost Great and very impressive sculpture and capture the scene is almost mystical in nature
A beautiful sculpture, and I love your photograph! The postwork, the angle ... everything makes this totally engaging!!
Very very very great composition in this picture !!!!!
Great shot, and that is a great location for this horse sculpture!
marvellous picture
Reminds me of the metal horse we have here. Interesting sculpture.. Aloha
WOW....WOW....WOW.... I think I've already made my decision without seeing the other sculptures ( I know it is unfair). This horse is so vivid.....so wild and untamed like a Mustang. And the size is really impressive!! Hug from Julchen
... and the horse of course! great sculpture and photo!
Outstanding metal work and a great zoom for a detailed look! A great POV!
