Description
Sparassis crispa.
Good to eat if you don't mind a mouthful of grit, very tricky to clean!
Found at the base of conifers, which is where this one is, but as you see surrounded by american oak leaves fallen from nearby ornamentals.

Superb color and detail but I will pass on ingesting it. Looks like it might eat ME.
How unusual and unique! I've neither heard of nor seen this fungus! Nice shot!
What a fine specimen! Great find!
Fantastic ,I've not seen this one.
Ooh, I like this and now I wonder what it tastes like. I love the shape and the whole cauliflower-thing it has going on. And what colors! This is such a rich and fun image!
An incredible capture of a very unique fungi – great photo my friend!
Really amazing fungus. Bravo.
Call me fussy, but I'll pass on the grit. It's beautiful, though! Rather like seaweed. (I won't eat that, either. Vile stuff.) Some things were just meant to be admired. :P
So beautiful, Andrea, an outstanding pic. I've seen this kind years ago, but I guess it's very rare here.
