Absolutely brilliant! You have all the ingredients here for a scary image - muted colour pallette, darkened room, creature hiding at leg-level (brings to mind those childhood fears of something under the bed), and finally the oblivious figure walking into danger. Also, wonderful posing on the creature and great lighting - it's difficult to give the impression of a dark place, but still let us see what is lurking. Wonderful stuff!
