For those of you interested in a bit of personal information:
In about the middle of September I got a rather large and sudden floater in my right eye. I've been to the retinologist and she's not worried about anything serious, so I'm just waiting it out. Basically what I'm seeing is a blurry cloud that settles in my central vision. As with any floater, if I look quickly up and to the right I can move it away and my vision is perfectly clear, but of course it wants to come back!
Moving it around is tiring. I've been postworking a few pictures, but by the time I've finished one, my eyes are so tired I'm exhausted and don't feel like posting the picture! Since the floater causes everything to look a little darker and a bit blurry, I have to keep checking and re-checking my work to make sure I haven't totally over done it.
I'm considering having an artistic "floater period," where I just work up the pictures and let them be "too much" and not worry about it.
So if I put up pictures and you think, "Wow ... she's really gone off the deep end with this one!" ... you might be right! LOL! I'm not telling you this so you can tell me, "No no, it looks fine," and I'm not looking for reassurance or sympathy. My vision has been an issue for many years, and fortunately this isn't permanent damage.
I'm just working on working around it.

I am guilty of sometimes not reading a caption with a photo but I never would even think this was overdone or that you had any vision issues. I would have done this exactly as you have (well - let me rephrase - I would have tried)
First, this is a beautiful capture. Second, Check out Claude Monet's later life work. So, yea, work through it, and don't stress it. You'll be fine.
Great subtlety..atmospheric capture
Firstly, what a revelation seeing Rod's pic! Yours is very mysterious. Secondly, what a sensible attitude about the floater. My eyesight varies violently as my remission relapse MS comes and goes, so between the two of us we could produce some really wild images! Thirdly, what a great name for a place!

Yes, yes, YES! Don't you just love how the afternoon sun makes those windows glow? It's almost as if the place is lived in again. I've been to this place many times, and it's never the same. Say - you didn't see anyone familiar there did you? (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2021065&user_id=638494&np&np) LOL This is a really lovely photo of the castle, Tara! It almost seems alive! I remember you mentioning the floater - glad it's nothing serious, but it does bear keeping an eye on it, if you'll pardon the bad pun... I have a cataract in my right eye - it's been there for several years, but it's getting a bit more pronounced. I'll probably have it taken care of after the first of the year. BTW - I'll be sending you links to those photos you liked over the weekend...

What an excellent use of the light and the result is spot on Tara. I too have a floater in my right eye but mine only bothers me when the weather is really bright and in The UK that can be rare !!
I've had floaters for about as long as I can remember, though they're just very small filaments, not clouds & I often don't notice them for weeks at a time. But given your history of eye issues, it's good that you had this checked out. It sounds annoying & I hope it passes soon. Lucky for us, it hasn't affected your photography - the lighting in this photo is flawless & very appealing...
I LOVE the way the darkness makes the eyes move unerringly to those glowing windows, and the quality of the glow is like firelight. Beautifully and sensitively done, as always from you! Good luck with the floater issue. Mine bug me some, but nothing like the watering thing, which makes trying to focus in the viewfinder like looking through a waterfall. That'll wear you out for sure!

Seriously Tara, there is absolutely nothing to worry about this photo ... it is an incredible atmospheric image, I do like it - especially the fabulous lighting ! but I feel sorry for your tired eye/eyes - just rest them, and cover them with some wet, cold or warm, not hot, chamomile teabags or cold cucumber slices - just a thought ;) BB
The contrast between the afternoon sky and the setting sun coming through the windows with the opposing shadows....well, who would have known you were having a situation with a floater....I merely thought you were in a surreal mood today. Regardless, it's OUTSTANDING!
